Three Things 19/52

Hello... it's year of happy time again, it's been baking hot here this week summers swan song I guess as all the plants in the garden are showing sign of the Autumn to come, lots of seed heads and berries forming in the borders.

Any road here's this weeks 'three things it's been another quiet week here as although it only the start of September I've manage to catch my first bug of the season to join in with my ongoing relapse, so it's been another week stuck in bed for me, sometimes it sure is tough to find the happy, but I'm determined to see the positives.

Number one:

This time of year we get the most amazing sunsets here at the Summerhouse, I took this picture on Sunday evening, just look at that sky, almost like folds of fabric, so stunning, it stopped me in my crocheting tracks and sent me off in another hooky direction, more on that next time.

Number two:

Is the my little bowl of yarn ends which sits on my bedside table. It made me smile to see it the other day, all the little bits of yarn snuggled together, so lovely.  I think it might be time to empty it though,  I did read something back in the Spring that said it was good to put out in the block feeder frames for the birds, as the yarn ends make excellent nesting materials, maybe I'll save the ends up till next Spring, it's nice to think of the birds in multicoloured knitted nests.

Number three:

Number three this week is also birdie based, it a little well quite large colony of House sparrows that live in the garden, over the last week they have been going completely crazy on the garden feeders yesterday I counted over thirty of them in one group on the feeding station near the house (although trying to get a photo was somewhat difficult, hence the above)

They are so funny all taking taking turns, chatting and chirping away in the nearby Holly tree sometimes having squabbles. 'P' has been filling up the fat ball feeder everyday!! and by the next morning it's empty again. Another sign of Autumn being on the way hopefully it's not because they sense a bad winter to come.  It's nice to see though as Sparrows are said to be in decline here in the UK, but we seems to have a thriving colony in the garden.

Well that's this weeks happy, what has made you smile this week?

  4. I love the idea of multicoloured birds nests, apparently birds like to line their nests with cat fluff too, I brush enough of the stuff off Marley and it always seems such a shame when I throw it away. Hope you feel better soon xxx
