Little Stitchy Hedgehog

Hello........ Today it's a day in bed for me here at the Summerhouse, recovering after a very long day yesterday, so a lot of resting but I also needed something easy and crafty to pass the time.

I had a hospital appointment yesterday and in order to get up to Surrey we had to tackle this, everyone local to me in Kent with realise this is what they call 'Operation Stack' when the motorways and main roads of Kent turn into one giant lorry park, every time there is a problem at the Port or the Channel Tunnel, the motorway is closed and you just have miles and miles of lorries, I feel so sorry for the lorry drivers and everyone else trying to use the roads

In the end the round trip took us nearly seven hours, no wonder I feel so wiped out, but at least the Immunologist had a few ideas of things we can try to hopefully make me feel as bit better, I'm just a little concerned at the mo that it will involve me being let loose with a syringe.

So today called for a little bit of low energy crafting while I'm in bed, this little kit which came free with September 2014's Crafts Beautiful magazine was just the thing.  You can find the templates  'here'
other than that it's just felt, thread and a pompom.

The kit has several things you could make but I opted for this little hedgehog who I'm hoping will feel right at home on my Autumn time wreath.

First up I cut out the pieces

Then started to stitch on the eye, instead of a french knot I decided to opted for eyelashes as this is a little lady hedgehog.

I also decided to add a pompom nose, as every self respecting hedgehog need a good snuffly snout.

Next up it was time to start stitching on the prickles,

then the face onto the main part of the body,

before finishing off with some v shaped prickles.

then all that was left to do was to sew on the pompom nose, (so cute)

Ta-Dah

Here she is snoozing in the leaves, patiently waiting until it's time to put the Autumn time Wreath back up.

Hopefully she will make a very cute addition.

Fantasia Wreath

Hello......... A few weeks ago I was pondering over the themes for our Craft Club exhibition ad suddenly realised that it wouldn't take too much work to convert my Wintertime wreath to fit the theme of Fantasia.

I watched some clips of the movie online and hatched a plan.

So  first off I started to dewinter the wreath removing the berries, little bird and teal baubles. Ready to start pinning all things fantasia.

You see most of what I needed was already there on the wreath Waltzing flowers and snowflakes, little mushrooms and swirling leaves, I just needed to add a few more things and I'd be done.

So I needed dancing snowflakes

For which I added extra felt snowflakes with a little bead in the centre for some sparkle

I needed  a Fantasia Fairy too

Who I found ready and waiting for a wreath adventure on the blossom tree lights in my room

and of course lots and lots of cute little mushrooms.

You remember them from the Waltz of the flowers right! so cute !
So it was time for the fun bit putting it all together.

Shall we go on a little tour,

Here's the bottom half of the wreath with it's fantasia fairy (who's looking right at home already) and of course lots of added snow flakes and sequin flowers,

On the sides of the wreath I've added groups of little mushrooms amongst the tinsel pom poms and flowers

The top of the wreath is pretty similar other than adding some snowflakes to try and cover the holly berries in the hope the leaves will look a bit like the dancing thistles.

Ta-Dah

My fantasia wreath, just a subtle change really from the Wintertime wreath but hopefully it works. So that's one more thing finished for the Exhibition which starts at the end of the month, still lots to finish off though.

It's all mask making and bunting finishing here at the moment.

Grow your Blog..........

Hello and Welcome to the Summerhouse by the Sea.

This is the first time I've taken part in the 'Grown your blog 'party held by  2 Bags Full and to be totally honest with you I only remembered in the nick of time that it's running today, oops never mind.

So my names Clare and I've been blogging for a couple of years now at the Summerhouse by the Sea here in the UK.  Above is a picture of my lovely Old  I mean vintage Summerhouse which is home to my crafting and is affectionately know around these parts as the shed.

Where I love to create all sorts of things from crochet to arts and crafts, there is always something going on here and a ever growing pile of WIP's

Since I've been blogging and crocheting I've been making seasonal wreaths and last year saw me complete the set with my Summer and Autumn Wreaths and I was lucky enough to have a picture of my Summertime wreath published in Crafts Beautiful magazine, (such a wonderful surprise)

I'm in blanket making mode at the moment, working on a couple of Attic 24 Cosy Blankets and also a granny blanket. I'm a bit of a one for starting new projects.

As well as working on getting things finished for a local craft exhibition due to start at the end of February with themes of The Owl and the Pussycat, Fantasia, Egypt and Masks (still in the planning stage eek).

So what else goes on here at the Summerhouse, well a lots of resting too as I suffer with quite severe ME/Lyme disease and spend most of my time stuck in bed, but a positive of this is it's led me to discover my creative side, as regular readers will know I had a bit of a tough time with my health over the last twelve months and my blog and all the other lovely like minded people you meet in blogland have helped cheer me on through the tough times so I very grateful for that.

One last thing you all should know about the Summerhouse is that it stands in a garden full of beautiful flowers and I quite often like to share mosaic's of what's going on out in the garden.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have enjoyed you're visit. I've recently set up a Facebook page for the blog which you can find 'here'  feel free to have a look around the blog archive too.

You can also follow me on Bloglovin or Google if you'd like to

Wintertime Wreath 2014

Hello.......... Yesterday I spent some time re pinning my Wintertime wreath yippee

Here's how it looked last year when it was first completed, I thought that I was just going to re pin it as was but no, my creative side took over as always, so this years wreath has some new elements.

The Holly is still there

As are the Stars

Roses

Mistletoe

and Ribbon Flowers.

The frosty lacy Stars

and blossoms are back too

This year however I've also added in some of the items from my Autumn Wreath,  The little crocheted frosts are staying

as are the silver leaves

I've also added in these super cute Toadstool, that I purchased at Christmas at Kew Gardens

and of course the baubles, glitter stars and tinsel pompoms are back for the season as are a few berries from Autumn

So would you like a little tour of the New Wintertime wreath?
