Seaside Bunting part 2

Hello...... So here's part two of my seaside bunting make, you can find part one of this make 'here' if you need to have a catch up.

So all the pennants were hand stitched and ready to be assembled. So it was time to put the ironing board up and meet Mr Bondaweb

Wow this stuff is fab, how can I not have come across it before. I tell you it nearly made it to my year of happy post that week!!

So any road I cut out slightly smaller triangles of the oh so magical Bondaweb

and ironed it onto the underside of my decorated pennants, at first I was a bit nervous about melting sequins and thread but it was all fine.

Then all I had to do was iron the second flag on top and my pennants were ready to be attached to the bias binding.

Now for a newbie stitcher I thought this bit would be tricky and it was a little, I measured then pinned my flags in place under one side of the binding and then pinned another piece of binding on top.

So that's two lengths of bias binding in total leaving about 40cm free each end before the flags began.

I managed to find this lovely navy polka dot bias binding on Amazon which I think is a pretty perfect match with the pennants.

The next day it was time to thread up my Mum lovely old singer sewing machine, and stitch the top and bottom of the binding in place.  This I found hard work for me, with so little energy, it put me in bed for a couple of days but at least it was done and my bunting was finished. Paybacks just no fun when it comes to ME/Lyme disease.

Here's a bit of a closer look.

The bunting will be going on exhibition next weekend at the local library

but after that it doesn't have a home.

So the plan is that I'm going to donate it to a charity auction that is to be held later in the year, to raise funds for the charities 'Invest in ME' and 'Shelter'.  The auction lots are all going to be handmade by crafter's from a Facebook group I'm a member of called Chronic Creatives. Which is a fab group for creative people who suffer from Chronic Illnesses.

A similar auction was held last year and we raise over £500.00 so it's all good.

I'll probably share a link on here nearer the time in case anyone wants to have a look to see what's up for auction and maybe even have a bid on something.

Before I go I just wanted to say a huge congratulations to Jenny Jones for winning Bronze in the Snowboard Slopestyle Final, at the winter olympics wow what a amazing sport and the UK's first medal on snow.

  3. Beautiful bunting. Great details on the flags. I wish I was by the sea right now instead of anticipating more snow.
