Connievan Card.

Like many other crocheter out in blogland over the last few weeks I have been making some Attic24 Granny Bunting to send off to Lucy at the attic for Yarndale.  I've loved seeing the granny bunting pennants appearing on the different blogs I follow, a lovely bit of communal crochet spirit spreading out across blogland.

I've got one more pennant to make myself before popping them all into the post, so I decided that I would also make a Summerhouse by the Sea card to send off to the Attic with my bunting. It was a obvious choice really for me to try and make a Connie Van Card for Lucy, as a little thank you for all the wonderful crochet tutorials she shares on her wonderfully colourful blog.

I took some inspiration for my card  from a pin cushion and sewn card I'd seen earlier in the year, in  'Craft Beautiful' magazine.

The first thing I did as always was a really rough sketch of my card design, I wanted to use a vintage style looking caravan for my card. I then cut out a template of the caravan and cut the pieces out from pattern papers (I can't think why !!!! must be the caravans but I've had the Peppa Pig Theme music stuck in my head all day, since making this card.)  Sorry now I bet you're all singing it too.

I cut a strip of green for the bottom of the card, the caravan from ditsy print paper and pattern pieces for the door, window and blind in spots, stripes and gingham.  I was going to make some bunting from different pieces of paper until I found this bunting strip in one of my books of craft papers, which was the perfect colour for this project and tied in with the polka dots on the caravan blind. Although it was a little tricky to cut out.

I then glued the caravan pieces together and found a cute spotty button for the door handle.

Then I glued the grass and bunting to a sky blue card blank so I could work out the layout for the card. Once I had figured out where I needed to put my caravan I stuck the pink button, I'm using as a caravan tyre to the card, with a glue dot. (I do love a glue dot )

Then all I had to do was glue the caravan into place, drawing on a cord for the blind and also some cute flowers to grow either side of Connie Van, I finished the flowers off by adding some flowers buttons I had in the Summerhouse crafts supplies

and Ta-Dah, my Connie Van card was complete.

I really hope that my simplistic Connie Van inspired card makes Lucy smile as she brings so much happiness into so many people lives, sharing her colourful happy world with the rest of us.
