Wintertime wreath : Holly

Hello....... With less than three weeks to the Winter Solstice, I really need to get cracking with my Wintertime wreath, so over the weekend I made another couple of Holly leaves. This time using a lighter colour yarn.

I used DK yarn and a 3.5mm hook to make my Holly using Lucy over at 'attic 24' fabulous Jolly Holly pattern her tutorials are wonderful and so easy to follow. For the darker glittery holly leaves I followed the pattern to a 'T'

However for the lighter green ones, I added a row of back stitch in the sparkly dark green yarn, to add a bit of variety.  I'm even wondering now if I should maybe try a variegated one using both yarn together !!

The next decision was all about berries. Red Pom Poms as above or .........

Little red beads I'm still undecided

But for now we'll do a Ta-Dah with the red pom poms

Maybe I'll do a some and some, beads and pom poms when I assemble my wreath.
For now it's onto the next, stars and snowflakes I think.

This week I'm still reading my way through 'The Lyme Disease Solution'

Just before I go, as you may know if you regularly read my blog I do a bit of songwriting as a hobby, well the lovely HannaPat has asked in a few comments if I would share some of my songs on here eek. Well a very long time ago when I first started writing this blog I did share a couple of clips of some of my songs. I find it quite scary putting them out there and performing and have not been well enough to perform at my local Folk Club for over a year now, but if you want to have a listen you'll find a couple of my songs 'here'  and ''here'

Happy Crafting

  6. Lovely holly and like you I don't know which kind of berries I'd go for. Might depend on the tone of the rest of the wreath. Loved listening to you sing too - really hope you gain strength to go back to performing. You may feel nervous about performing but it doesn't show - on the contrary you have a naturalness that's really lovely as well as a great voice. Wishing you all grist to your crafty and musical mill! E x

I love the first song 'you find your way back home' and the lyrics are really moving. Your harmonies work so well together and I just feel like popping over for us to do a little singing, that would be fun! I am really impressed, so keep on writing, you rock!
