All things Yarny

Hello......... Today I thought I'd do a yarny update, a bit of a break from the holiday pics.

Ah now these granny squares have been on a go for quite some time, they were the first thing I ever made when I learnt to crochet, the enthusiastic plan at the time was to make a blanket, but I'm not sure anymore, they are very pretty, but I'd need to make a huge amount for a blanket and I just get so easily distracted by other things I want to crochet.

Maybe I'll get there some day, every summer I seem to dig them out and make a few more.

My ice cream squares are mounting up well though, (this was the project I took away on holiday with me) so finger crossed soon I'll have enough to make a cushion for the Summerhouse.

Big Cosy is still on the go too, I'm ever hopeful that I'll get it finish before the end of the year.

Now I'm back I also need to get on with sewing together the sparkly flowers, which I think are going to be a cowl, I'm torn between cowl or scarf at the moment.

As for reading well I've been indulging in some craft magazines.

What are you making/reading at the moment?

  3. Oh my goodness, I have not thought about granny squares in a very long time. My first crochet project was putting granny squares together to form a baby sweater for a teacher, I was only 9 years old. That was my first, and last crochet project. These squares are just lovely.

  6. I too love the sparkly flowers. The squares are mounting up, if they are similar colours I think I would combine granny and ice cream squares!

  10. I'm just about to start learning to crochet and granny squares are first up on my list (I'm a knitter). Rather than get overwhelmed with the idea of a blanket though, I found a pretty awesome looking granny square skirt through pinterest. That or a scarf, but I'm leaning towards the skirt.

  13. Love your flowers! They look so pretty and delicate. Hope that you can decide what to do with your squares that you first made, I notice the colour are similar to your ice cream cushion, but I don't know if they could be incorporated somehow? You know that I love your blanket too! Hope that all is going well for you. xx

  16. Your crochet is absolutely divine!!
I actually tried to crochet in black last night, for a male friend, making coasters.
I had to give up, because I couldn't see the yarn! It was like a big black blob!!
    Have a wonderful weekend!
    Much love, Tammy x

  17. The big cosy blanket is so so so gorgeous - and perhaps if you can't face a blanket of tiny granny squares, you could go for a lap blanket or a cushion cover? indulging in craft magazines is the best sort of holiday reading :) jenny xx - www.thegeekyknitter.co.uk
