Three Things 07/52

It's been a very blustery week here at the Summerhouse by the Sea, we're still waiting for summer to make a appearance, but all in all I think a good week, my healths still not doing so good, but I'm trying to stay positive and hope things will start to pick up again soon, here are my three things for the week that have brought some happy my way.

Number one:

Is new yarn, I ordered these new colours to add to my stash of Stylecraft Special DK,  some additional colours for the Summerhouse Granny bunting I've been making. Since they have arrived, seeing them all together has triggered a idea to make a Summerhouse granny blanket in blues, pinks and purples, Sweet Pea coloured hues.

I'm trying to resist though (for now) as I have so many project ongoing already and my 'to make list' that is constantly growing, including a Granny Square blanket for my comfy bed (started over two years ago!! in fact it was the first ever crochet I did !!!) I'm terrible for hopping from one thing to the next, so I'm trying to resist the lure of the Sweet pea granny until some of those project are completed. Does anyone else suffer from this flighty crafter problem?

Number two:

I was so lucky this week, me who never wins anything, actually won a very lovely something in a blog  giveaway. The giveaway was being  run over on Mrs Thomasina Tittlemouse wonderful blog and just look how beautifully it was packaged. So exciting, getting parcels in the post.

When I first saw the beautiful handmade bags that were being very generously given away, I came down with a serious case of the wanties, which is quite unusual for me, but I just loved the fabrics so much, with there wonderful Folkie prints, do you want a peak at my fab 'Easy Summer Living bag'?

Isn't it wonderful, I love it so, I was one very happy Clare when the postie delivered this lovely treat. I tried to take some pictures but they don't really do the bag justice, the lights been so gloomy this week at the summerhouse, or it been blowing a gale. Please go and check out 'E' wonderful blog, she is such a talented lady. I've put a link 'here'

I've already put my 'Easy Summer Living bag to good use, of course it's already got some yarn in it, happy happy happy :)

Number three:

Is spending time with friends and family, having a good old get together. You may well be thinking that above is a unusual picture to represent this. However, it was my sister 40th Birthday this week and on Friday night, she had a party to celebrate a Hawaiian tropical party, which was so much fun, with inflatable monkeys and a 6ft palm tree and lanturns and little Teeki men and yes there was even a limbo pole too. The above picture is of my Dress, lei and lotus flower hair clip.

Everyone had a great time and it was really lovely to meet up with so many family member and friends. I had a few days in bed this week  to try and summon up the energy for this top tropical 1980's themed extravaganza and I made it.  I'm feeling a bit like the living dead today, (and I didn't even have any alcohol) I'll probably be in bed for about a week recovering but I had a very fun  night.  I can't wait to see the photo's that the official party photographer took.

Here's a pic of the fab cake my sister made, she wanted to make and decorate her own cake for her 40th as she does a lots of baking and Sugarcraft. She has made so many cakes for family occasions over the years.

Well that all for this weeks year of happy, I'm off for a rest now.

Happy Crafting

Clare xx

  1. I love your new yarn colours and that bag is beautiful. It's great when treats pop through the letterbox!

And yes I am just like you and have so many projects on the go at once - although I have cut down a lot this year and am trying my best to just have small projects that I can finish quickly, (apart from my granny square blanket).

I hope the party went well, it sounds a blast.

    1. I'm trying to stick to the plan that I can't start anything new until I've finished a ongoing project. xx
