Hello....... Now it could be said I've been a little bit excited about this make, my Sister could tell you if you asked her how many times I've said about wanting to make a Button Bauble, when we finally got to the craft shop, she was still looking at me like I'd gone a bit Button Baubles bonkers.
My original plan was to make one all in pearly buttons, but they were very
tricky to source in the quantity you would need to make a bauble. So in
the end I settled for some white buttons and a colourful Christmas mix.
Yay for buttons (skippy happy)
First of all I pinned in place a ribbon
Then set to work gluing my buttons on using PVA, which I really hope is going to hold !!
It's a bit like a button jigsaw puzzle
Finding just the right button to fit each time, as they are round there will always be a few gaps, which I simply filled with a pearly pin.
You have to cover a half a bauble at a time then allow it to dry before starting the second half.
When it's completely covered leave it to dry for 12 hours
Then it's time to add a little more decoration, pretty ice blue sparkles for the white bauble and some pins. The colourful bauble I just added a few pins in reds, greens and whites.
Ta-Dah
I'm a little bit in love with my icy white button bauble. Are you ready for the next one?

So much buttony goodness, I think I like this one best of all
Yay for Button Baubles what's not to love about them and so simple to make.
I can't wait to see them on the tree, when we finally get around to putting it up eek it's only a week till Christmas!! and we still have so much to do.....
Happy Crafting
Clare xx
I LOVE these! I'm in completely in love with the red polka dot buttons. It makes me want to run out and buy loads of buttons and craft away :) Thanks for posting these!! I believe these are next on my ornament list!!

Love the white one with the little bits of blue! They both turned out fabulous, but the white one is...ah, just something about white and sparkly blue that is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThese are so sweet. I really like them. They remind me of some ornaments I've made with sequins and pins covering styrofoam shapes. I made a set of them many years ago and we still use them every year, they're some of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI'm addicted to buttons!! There I've said it! I really love buttons! Hehe x
ReplyDeleteYay!! I wondered what you were going to do with the "gaps", I think that the idea of the pearl pins and the sparkles is a lovely one as they fill the gaps beautifully and add some sparkle and shine as well, so what could be better than that!! Beautiful! Happy Christmas. xx
ReplyDeleteThese are delightful! Filling the gaps with pins is a great idea. I can imagine these were huge fun to make. x
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever, Clare! Thanks for showing us how to make them. My mom used to cut buttons off worn out clothing and I loved to play with her buttons from her button box. I could have made some great button balls from her collection :) xx
ReplyDeleteThey are so much fun. If it makes you feel better our tree is not up yet either, it is the last thing up and the first thing down!
