Hello...... Today's five on a Friday post is going to be all about new things, I'm not quite sure where January went, I never really got around to writing many posts, sadly there is just not a lot of spare energy at the moment.
First up we have new strings on the guitar. New year, new strings, I really hate changing the strings as I find it so exhausting, so it takes me about a week to change them all, I do however love that new string sound.
To go with the new strings I have also written a new folk song,
Next up it's a New year resolution, after slipping over Christmas I'm back to eating as clean as possible again, my illness means that 'P' has to do most of the cooking (well to be honest most of everything around here) as I'm just not well enough, when I do feel up to cooking it's usually something quick, as life is tough with ME and POTS ( Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) so standing up for me is a real issue, so this was pre prepared stir fry mix (no chopping) with cashew and sesame, and brown rice and quinoa. It was one of those rice microwave packs, have you tried them ? yes they are pricey, but are ready in just two minutes, (so perfect for the exhausted) which saves boiling the brown rice for 40 minutes and I can just about manage to sit on the uncomfy kitchen stall long enough to make this on a goodish day, but doing this puts my heart rate well up over 120 and lands me in bed for the rest of the day.
Next up we have a new colouring book, I do love them, this is the Enchanted Forrest Inky Quest book, and I'm loving all the botanicals and wildlife, I read recently that colouring is as good for you as meditation, when it comes to relaxing, so I'm trying to do a few minutes of colouring each day, if I feel up to it.
Now here we have a New craft for the new year, yes a friend and I are going to attempt to make a tiara for our craft club exhibition at the end of the month, so far I'm loving all the sparkly beads, yes my inner magpie is most happy, as to how it's going to turn out well, who knows. I'll keep you posted, I'm hoping it's not going to prove too fiddly.
and finally new life in the summerhouse garden with the first crocus of the year spotted this week.
Wishing you all have a wonderful weekend

Hi Clare. The dinner looks good :-) The tiara making sounds fun, I shall look out for updates! x
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to seeing how you get on with making a tiara. Great looking dinner, I very often use those microwave packets of rice. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really nice, I use microwave packets of rice all the time or I will make a big pan of rice and then portion it up to go into the freezer. Good luck with the tiara I'm sure it will be lovely.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your new craft. I love colouring too, it is so relaxing. I'm visiting from Five on Friday.
ReplyDeleteVery nice beginnings, Clare ! Those colouring books are so special and I'll be very excited seeing the tiara, no doubt it will be splendid...
ReplyDeleteIn stitches,
NADINE
PS : the rice mix is looking so yummy :))
Your dinner looks nice and healthy and the beads are gorgeous. I'll be looking forward to seeing the finished tiara. I'm sorry you struggle so with your health. I've got a pacemaker myself and have been feeling very unwell for several weeks now. Apparently I have been having dozens of episdoes of tachycardia recently as recorded by the pm. I sympathize with you. It's getting old!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
It is wonderful to see Crocus bulbs blooming. I adore the colour of your guitar and wonderful shade of green.
ReplyDeleteFive super things. The tiara making sounds fascinating and your colouring and the crocus are lovely:)
ReplyDeletePrepared ingredients can be a real blessing in some situations can't they, it is great that you can make yourself such a healthy and quick and delicious meal like that. Hope that you enjoy your tiara making! Thank you for joining Five On Friday, happy weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteGood food, a new book, fun crafting and a beautiful flower, it all sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you Claire,
Meredith
That crocus at the end is gorgeous! The tiara sounds lovely, I'm a bit of a magpie too. I hope you start to have more energy soon and things feel a bit better. Have a good weekend xx
ReplyDeleteHello Clare. I've joined in Five on Friday this year too. I love the sky photo and the one of the crocus in bloom. I hope you enjoy making the tiara and continuing with the colouring in of those attractive pictures that include wild life and botanicals.
ReplyDeleteGlad your inner magpie is being satisfied will look forward to the end result
ReplyDeleteAlways fun to try a new craft. My husband is a guitar player and he always mumbles, grumbles and swears when he changes strings.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your fantastic photos. Happy crafting!
ReplyDeleteMany wonderful new things! I am so sorry you have POTS. It's sounds so difficult! Lovely that you have help. The food sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteOooo a tiara! Love that idea, and can't wait to see it when it's done!
ReplyDeleteI use those packs of rice all the time. In fact I never use normal rice any more. As you say they are pricey but sooooooo easy and fast, if it's tgat or takeaway I definitely feel less guilt with the instant rice, so it's a winner for me.
And finally - I live your green guitar :)
