Hello..... A couple of weeks ago I posted about these granny squares in this post, asking for ideas of what to make with them, a few of you suggested I make some cushions maybe for the garden and I really loved that idea.
So I started playing around with the squares
and made a few more, but then I started to fall a little bit in love with the smaller version with there gentle colours.
So it came down to a decision between the already made granny squares
and these lovely little squares, made using the same pattern stopping at the third round, how I love there gentle ice cream colours. Decision made it was time for the frogging to begin.
As with most things in life it wasn't that easy as I discovered that the frogged squares had been stretched by the fourth round and were annoyingly that little bit too big compared to the new square's.
Here I was thinking this was going to be a quick little make.
Not so, I've had to frog the lot and start from scratch, but I think these little guys are well worth the extra work.
I just need to decide now if I want to add in these extra colours, decision decisions I'm just not sure.
Although they do look rather lovely with all the other colours, currently I'm leaning towards maybe just adding the brown, keeping in line with the ice cream theme, after all where would we be without chocolate ice cream.
The only plus side of frogging the lot are the cute little yarns balls.
I'll keep you posted as to what I decide about the colours, a big thank you to Mamas Mercantile and Gilly for the suggestion.
Happy Crafting

I am thrilled you went for garden cushions they will look amazing once you have done them, the colours are stunning.
ReplyDeletePlease forgive my ignorance, but what is 'frogging'?
ReplyDeleteHi Helen, frogging is when you rip out crochet or knitting and turn it back into a ball of yarn, I think it come from rip it sounding like ribbit

These are very pretty colors, Clare. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next.
ReplyDeleteI love the soft ice creamy colours. I think the brown looks great, it is not too dark but adds a bit of depth. I shall look forward to seeing the finished article :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is fun playing around with these things and contemplating different ideas isn't it! All the possibilities!! xx
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having a lot of fun Clare, love the yummy colors.

I'm sure they will look great when finished x
ReplyDeletethe little squares are very cute. Now, please forgive me for telling you this after the fact - but you didn't need to frog them. You could have blocked the smaller squares to bring them to the same size as the larger ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Wendy, I did think about it but I kind of love how dinky the smaller squares are plus six of the smaller ones fit perfect across the cushion pads I have, which is a shame as it sure would have saved me a lot of work.
